With Andy
Hillhouse
Saturday, October 14, 2000
1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
West Point Gray United Church
4595 West Eighth Avenue, Vancouver, BC
Are you
fascinated by the music of Riverdance? Does a reel or a jig get
your
pulse racing? Then come and revel in the energy of this exuberant
music! Voice,
fiddle, flute, penny whistle, mandolin, guitar, piano, accordion,
uilleann
pipes—anything goes! Andy will present an overview of the Celtic style;
then
the singers and instrumentalists will rehearse separately. After the
break
everyone will make music together, with Amy Stephen on piano-accordion.
Andy led the acclaimed gospel music workshop last spring. He plays the
guitar,
mandolin, and bouzouki, and sings lead with Mad Pudding, a Celtic band
with
four CDs and international gigs to its credit. He has performed at the
Shetland
Festival, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Denmark's Skagen Festival,
Cape
Breton's Celtic Colours Festival, the Philadelphia Festival, and the
Vancouver
International Folk Festival. This workshop is a must!
