Pieces are ranked from 1 (easiest) to 4 (hardest). This is a rough estimate only -- don't be discouraged from trying to learn a "difficult" piece that you really like!

Vocal pieces (CV, LV, and MV) have not been rated by difficulty.

Pieces are ranked as below. This is a rough estimate, generally depending upon when the composer lived.

Advanced searching

In addition to searching for individual instruments and/or vocal ranges, you can also search for special instruments or vocal groups.

In technical terms, you are searching for a specific text string within the instrument fields of the catalogue entires. In practical terms, this means that you can search for things like:

Number of copies out

This is the number of copies that have been signed out of the library. In most cases, there is only one copy of the music in the library. But in some cases, particularily for vocal works, there are multiple copies. In such cases, you may borrow any remaining copies from the library.
